Valentine's Eve: Demetæra Practice!

On Thursday, February 13, we are rolling out the second of the Eleusian Epiphanies, the Demetæra Practice

In keeping with our theme of syncretizing Asiatic yogas and archaic Western ritual, Demetæra brings goddess Demeter into the practice of buddha Green Tara.

Yes, that Demeter.  Kore's Moms.  She who created and established the Eleusinian Mysteria; who (disguised as a king's nanny) nearly toasted poor princebaby Demophoon; who sat at Hades' gate on the stone that would be forever known as Αγελαστος/Mirthless, grieving the disappearance of her Daughter. And who finally browbeat her brother Zeus into bringing Kore topside again (for at least 2/3rds of the year).

Less well known is her liaison with Jason of Thebes, who then went on to establish an ecstatic version of Her Mysteria on the island of Samothrace.  This less-maternal, more-amorous side of Demeter is a good note to strike on this Valentine's Eve.
